DE CH A etc summer trip

IMG_6234.webpStopped here for lunch and a look round the castle. Unfortunately it’s more of a bird of prey centre than a castle you can look round

Shell diesel on the Autoroutes in France has been about the most expensive at €1.84 for their top of the range and 3 cents less for the rubbish stuff I bought.
We've only been caught the once by Shell but over this month using mainly Total Gas stations we paid €1.59 just outside Nantes and low €1.70s everywhere else.

IMG_6254.webpIMG_6256.webpCamping Dr. Lauth just over the Austrian border. Set up with Zugspitze as a backdrop but then had to reconfigure slightly as apparently they plan to squeeze another van in between us and our neighbours.

Dinner at the restaurant but now it’s started raining so we are stuck here with just beer and snaps to keep us going!

Paid 1.65 in think just over the Austrian border, whatever it was 5C less than the German prices, and got a motorway vignette while there

Walked up to the Zugspitze cable car station this morning after getting up extra early to catch the best of the weatherIMG_6273.jpeg We were up top about 9 and let’s just say it wasn’t worth gettting up early for

IMG_6276.jpegView from summit

Luckily we bought a ticket that included a trip down another cable car to a glacier and the view were better from there

Also had a nice bar serving jager tea

IMG_6299.jpegThe van is somewhere down there, top left

Got back to the campsite in time for a pizza lunch and a few beers and now sitting at the van it looks lovely up there, bloody BBC weather!!! (Mind you the cable car driver said we should wait until Saturday which isn’t an option)

We went for a walk through the village after dinner and somehow got into a drinking session with a German father and son who are on a motorbike tour.

This morning slightly worse for wear and after a slow start we did the glossglockner road, €45 seemed a bit expensive but it was worth every penny, amazing road, amazing views. Exactly the sort of thing we wanted to do in the van.IMG_6327.jpegIMG_6328.jpegIMG_6331.jpegIMG_6333.jpegFullSizeRender.webp

IMG_6354.webpThe village had a band playing next door and beer and sausages. Nice for the first 30mins when we were eating the food and drinking the beer but not so great 3 hours later when they were still at it!

Walked up the valley behind the campsite this morning. Absolutely stunning. Had lunch at a restaurant set in the high alpine meadows. Then headed back again. Baking here today!
