my dash lights/instrument lights only come on when I’ve got my head lights on, not my side lights, any idea’s?

It’s a T6, Really I’d of expected them to come on at the first turn of the lights switch.
Normal operation.
Make sure you have the dash light dimmer turned up to full as well.

I think it's a prompt to switch the lights on full when it gets to dark to see the dials as you could be driving with your side lights on all night.

Lights thing is what VW do to ensure that your lights are on at night time.
I've got auto lights on one van and fitted the auto light switch on the other that bang... That saves all confusion of turning them on or off.... Just set to auto and job done.
And yes the dash clock lights follow the main headlight activation.

Same, I thinks it's normal but odd. Just leave mine on auto all the time.
