CXEB Bi-Turbo Replacement?

Hi all, I know this is a very popular subject on here but hoping to get some advice from those who have been through this.

So last week while on the motorway the van started whistling and making a noise on acceleration, finally there was a pop, the Glow Plug light came on, start/stop issue and eventually the engine management light and the van went into Limp mode.

I took the van to a trusted garage and put it on their on reader and it came back with a P0299 code (Turbo Underboost/Low Boost)

Having checked for anything obvious, pipes/leaks it’s looking likely the turbo is the issue and I will need to replace this.

Looking online, Darkside Developments either can supply new genuine/OEM replacements or refurbish the unit and send back. There is also another supplier called TurboDiesel who sells refurbished units.

Any advice on the best action would be appreciated, there’s obviously a massive difference on costs between OEM & Refurbished.

Looks like im the latest patient of the CEXB engine issues.

(possibly the 2016-2018 range as there is a mention that the CXEB Block etc was revised in 2019)

(the CXEC 199ps Bi-Turbo was released 2019> and revised )

in sort it looks like its either Turbo or Engine failure.

We always recommend East Midlands turbos, they can either refurb, replace with 360⁰ bearings for better longevity or... Hybrid for a little extra kick.
