I dont know if this is possible or even a common thing but i read that the CP4.2 OEM pumpo for the CFCA is not really capable at higher rpm's..... has anybody switched to the mora capable CP3 pump?
pls note i dont even know if this is even possible... but it sounds interesting to me

Hi Marc
Yes the CP3 fuel pump is very doable. A guy has got one on his CFCA and has got 250bhp and achieves surprisingly great mpg.
Dark side developments offer a fitting kit and fully refurbished pump for £960. Cheaper untested pump kits are available. You will also need a new fuel rail pressure sensor £140.
The stock CP4.2 runs at 1800 bar until about 3000 rpm at which it then drops to 1500 bar this has the effect of leaning out the mixture just when you need as much fuel as you can get.
The CP3 pump runs at 2200 bar through the entire rev range. The extra pressure gives a finer spray pattern and therefore a better burn. The constant pressure through the revs dramatically helps reduce the EGT which is a huge problem with the CFCA engines when tuning.

Thanks GEMO,

I am interested in this mod could you possibly provide me with part numbers for this?

Unfortunately i am in EU so importing from UK is very expensive for me therefor i have to source the parts in Germany.

I have a remap on my van , does this mean it has to be adjusted again? (i think it needs to be , but just to be sure)

thanks in advance

Hi Marc
So to get the very best. From the CP3 pump upgrade you should really have the following in place.
1) Strong base engine with good even compression across all cylinders.
2) A large FMIC I use a Wagner stage 1
3) Decat and large bore single box exhuast
4) Hybrid turbo. 360 race thrust bearings. 68mm billet turbine with exhaust matched to match. Cross exhuast chamber balance valve machined and ported.
5) A good's strong clutch .
6) CP3 Bosch R70 HPHV fuel pump plus an uprated fuel rail pressure switch.
You will definitely need to get a new nap as the turbo and fuel pump will be working way outside the factory spec and as such your nap just won’t know what to do to get the very best from your mods.
Turbo
CP3 pump plus fitting kit.
Fuel rail pressure switch

Thanks for the info, my engine has done 35k km and is considered "fresh", while an interesting idea to fit hybrids chargers and decat it that is not my goal.

My van doesnt need to be a fast van (also have an X3 M) but i do like some more grunt and torque for towing my caravan, it needs to be reliable in first place.

That said, i do prefer to source the parts from germany because we have (too) high import taxes from UK over here in EU....its a damn shame.

Tow you caravan to the UK and enjoy the beauty whilst picking up a few tuning parts from Barnsley, i am sure your wife wont mind!
