Hi guys

I’m currently in the process of converting my t6 into a camper and was wondering if anyone had any links or price guides as to how much it will cost?

I have no idea about wiring etc so it’s not something I will be doing myself

Cheers guys

If it was me I would budget around £2k-£2500 fitted. That should get you decent stuff eg Victron components ie large AGM battery (ies), solar panel, b2b charger, 13amp hook-up, battery monitoring, solar controller, 300W inverter, wiring, fuses, consumer box, 13amp charger, led lights and switches. Some units like Renology combine things which could save some money. It is a full couple of days work for someone who knows what their doing and it’s not something I would get done on the cheap. It’s critical to the type of camping we do ie weeks on end without plugging in and you want it to be right.

@travelvolts is your man.

List what you want/need so he can quote you happy.

Ie.
Leisure battery.
EHU point.
240v charger.
Inverter.
Dc-dc charger.
Solar.
Monitoring.

in the mean time have a look at the solar & power sections for more background info:

I need everything really. It doesn’t have anything at the moment and as for a solar panel I have a roof bars and will be putting a box on it so would that be an issue?

If your roof box will cover the solar-panel over, then yes - without direct sunlight it’ll not yield any power.

I've just finished a self fit of my van, grand total of £1200 - without any solar.

Victron dc to dc, victron mains charger, mini consumer unit, 200ah agm battery and all the sockets, lights and sundries.

If you have the budget for it I'd deffo reccomend buying it as a premade package/ kit.

I’m no good with electric so will be wanting to buy it and have it installed too. Last thing I want is to buy the kit and mess it up.........Which I will do

I've just bought a kit today from Rayne Automotive, cost me just north of £750. Chap I spoke to was called Richard, communication was great, came back to me very quickly with feedback on things I wanted to do. They send you a diagram for you to mark up where you want things to go e.g. the leisure battery, mains consumer unit, charger, lighting, 240V hook up etc. They then build a custom loom for you all marked up for easy installation, fingers crossed.
Looking forward to trying to install some of this kit, If I can't I'll try to find help on the forum or Youtube and if all else fails I'll get a local company to install.

Travelvolts I understand is also a very good company and offers good support, for me though the Rayne website and youtube videos featuring their products helped me to decide to use them. I don't think you will get a bad deal from either of these companies.

I can only echo the above. I have a fair knowledge of electrics, including marine electrics; however if you dont have all the tools and sundries to make the looms look nice then you will end up spending at least £750 trying to do it yourself.

Very handy thing to learn though! Deffo quicker getting stuff made for you though.

Hmmm
I have no idea as I always try to not write the prices down when the next part is ordered...
But afterwards thinking it might have been interesting to know...

Did you already have your units and sink installed or not? I’m just wondering should I get them in first to help plane where to put sockets etc

Dry fit your cabinets to get a general layout >> remove everything >> fit electrics with nothing in the way

Also consider a lithium battery set up. You could literally spend any amount on it. Ask yourself what are your needs today and what will they be in a year.

I wanted to run a microwave and coffee machine in mine and that influenced my spec as an example.

Sorry for the delayed reply, no I'm still using van as a work vehicle so doing small bits at a time., The electrical kits you can buy I guess will have some slack based on the van type LWB or SWB so everything should fit, with Rayne automotive you mark up a basic plan of a van with the approx location of eveything.
