L4V Security Deadlocks

Hi all, Im hopefully picking up my new to me camper in a couple of weeks. Im thinking ahead on vehicle security and wondered if anyone had fitted these to there camper?
They are L4V Deadlocks. I know that some people have them if they are using their vehicles as work vans but has anyone used them on a camper? Particularly for the tailgate, one lock in the bottom corner each side?

Im going to do some local area searches to find reputable fitting companies to make some enquiries about costs etc when I actually get the van but just wondered if anyone has any experience of these locks, costs etc.

Thanks in advance for any replies etc,

Rick.

They will look awful on a camper.

Normally for panel vans full of tools and stuff.

It's easier to smash windows in a camper, so maybe look at other options.

We have them on our camper, fitted by the previous owner. I dont think they look too bad tbh. Given the cost of the van, it provides some comfort/reassurance.

Hi all, I thought it would make sense to post this here as its deadlock related.

I am fitting a window on the panel door. The previous owners had a deadlock for security just at the edge of the panel, where it meets the rear. I am planning to fit a window on the panel door and the deadlock it's in the way.

Indeed, the window would sit on the edge, exactly where the lock is. It looks exactly as the LV4 security deadlock pictured above. I assume I will need to remove from the side of the panel door but it looks like there are some sort of rivets and it might be sealed as well. Anyone had the same issue?

- how would you remove it without making damage?
- what would you say will be the best way to proceed attaching the window? a. Just prime the hole and plenty of silicon around since the window will cover it
b. try fill the hole before glueing the window down on it? In case how would you fill it?

I have taken see some pictures of how it appears

Thank you

It’s not a problem. Just take the escutcheon plate and barrel out, protect the bare edge with some paint, then the glass adhesive goes around the outside of the hole that’s left. Exactly like mine.

Perfect, thank you @CJW , just managed to get ecerything out fine. So afterwards you would not fill the hole left with anything? I will have a hole on the surface where the window will go (where the cylinder sticks out) and then one on the side of the panel van, where the mortice is in. What would be the best way forward in your opinion?

I treated the edges then put the side plate assembly back in. It’s hardly ever seen and fills the hole reasonable well.

The hole at the front (where the barrel was) is now hidden behind the glass. Cannot see it.
