Cornwall trip - site recommendations

Hey campers.. We are planning a Cornwall tour in early may, weather permitting. I’m looking for some recommendations of sites along the coast. We’ll be starting in the north - probably around padstow - and then meandering around the coast for 7-10 days, likely finishing with a visit to Eden project so last stop somewhere around there. Looking to find sites with al least basic facilities and ideally showers, with great views where possible, and close to beaches. Any suggestions welcome!

If it’s bank holiday time then it might be worth booking in advance for some sights!
If you haven’t booked then telephone to check availability beforehand to avoid a lot wasted driving time.

Avoid Padstow at all times except mid winter!(IMO)

Lots of sites around Polzeath but, again all will be full over the BH weekend. Actually not sure about the early May BH it will probably be less crowded then.
Sorry I can’t vouch for any specific sites other than “The Valley Caravan Park” in Polzeath which doesn’t have views but is a flat walk, and very close to, the beach. Nice facilities though!

Thanks. We will go after the May BH weekend I think as I can work from the van and it’s just me and the Mrs. I’ve been to Padstow in early May before and it wasn’t too bad. I agree defo worth avoiding in summer!

We went to a site up the camel valley/trail from padstow which was quite nice. Downside was it was on a busy road but a nice walk into padstow and good bus links to loads of beaches

I'll be in Cornwall bank holiday weekend and staying at Pentewan Sands holiday park in the van.

Every year they have a classic mini show on the site organised by the Cornish mini club.

Cornish Mini Club Riviera Run

I've had a classic mini for 17 years (although currently not roadworthy)

If they have spaces and you don't mind the classic cars around then may be worth a look.

Can recommend upper lynston in Bude,and try perenporth, stayed there before and going back in a few weeks great walks and pubs at both sites..

I can also recommend Upper Lynstone.
Dennis Cove, Padstow and Tower Park nr Penzance are also worth a stay.

Can recommend Anchor Barrow Campsite In Perranporth | Touring Site Perranporth at Perranporth, also Penzance Campsite Cornwall | Mounts Bay | Ponsandane Camping at Penzance. Both reasonably priced and good facilities, edge of town locations.

Both open May.

The irony is that I'm Kernowen born and bred, but being from there I've never once stayed at a campsite in the nation!
