Campsite recommendations.

Has anybody any recommendations for campsites near or on the coast in Devon or Cornwall .Looking to go in August for a week with good facilities........Near or on a fab beach would be fabulous.......
Also are pitches limited in size....?

Last year i went to Trewen Hall near Saint Columb in Cornwall, and Warcombe Farm , Morthoe North Devon, both fantastic sites with great facilities and not far from the coast.

Watermouth Valley campsite www.watermouthpark.co.uk its between Coombe Martin and Ilfracombe, nice relaxed site not too expensive, good facilities. You can walk into Coombe Martin as the coastal path runs through the site, the have pitches with a sea view and they have a lovely private beach as long as you don't mind a lot of steps!!

I stayed at Combas Farm the other day. Walking distance into Croyde. Sea views from the top field. Stunning location. Amazing facilities too for a farm campsite.

So, yes, it's a pejorative term. Still... at least tourists are far better than ants at sustaining the local economy, eh?

If you consider working 3 or 4 part time jobs for 5 months a year on minimum wage a career. Living in a van / shed / caravan because there is no affordable accomodation.

Oh, I agree, the impact of tourism is not all positive, but if the jobs that are directly and indirectly supported by tourism were to disappear, the result would not be locals being able to afford homes (even if the prices were no longer inflated by tourism).

The issue for Cornwall, along with many other areas of the UK, is not the abundance of low-paid, low-skill jobs, it is the absence of well-paid, skilled jobs (the blame for which cannot be laid at the feet of tourists).
