Coding for rear wash?

Is it necessary to adjust the coding to reverse the washer pump (to direct the fluid to the rear window)?

Thanks,
J

Could you please share
  • VCDS Auto-Scan,
  • 09-BCM adaptation map,
  • 09-BCM blockmap
of a van without.

It’s not coding based, it’s done by wiring. A non rear wiper stalk has a plastic tab blocking out the contacts.

The pump for a rear wiper setup is also different with dual outlet, vs single outlet.

Hi there, and thanks for the reply.
Just for your info, I have removed the tabs (and now the stalk pushes forward, operating a contact) and I've replaced the pump with the dual outlet, the second one running all the way back to the rear wiper spray outlet.
I've also assumed that the sprung stalk forward push will operate the wiper and the washer at the same time. Do you know if that is correct?
Thx
J

Hiya did you get anywhere with this ?

I am at a similar stage, ran the washer tube to new dual outlet pump, ran extra wires from tailgate to a pillar 17 pin connector, but can’t find where to run them from there to make the stalk work ?

I haven’t got a fuse in position 25 so will have to make new feed from fuse box, no problem with that but where does it go from the fuse box ?
Does it go via the bcm or straight to the wiper stalk somehow ?
Do the other 3 new wires from tailgate go to stalk as well ?

Ta for any help 😀

You just need to download the relevant wiring diagrams for the old and new then compare the differences and make the changes
It can be tricky as VW don’t make wiring diagrams for complete systems so you often need to trawl through various chapters finding all the bits that are relevant to the task at hand

Maybe some more relevant stuff in these ?

Hi Pauly,

thanks for the reply, the closest I can find is this wiring diagram..

IMG_0547.webp

But i can’t seem to find where the positions b349, 11 and 14 are ?
Any ideas ? Ta

11 and 14 are the numbers along the bottom, the page you are on is 29-42 so if you go back a page or 2 then you will see the appropriate continuation of those lines

B349 is a join within the wiring loom so trickier to deal with but if you go through the pages (sometimes other chapters) you can find other references to that join and figure out the other places it goes

Ah great thank you, what I now can’t work out is how to navigate to previous page as you advised ? when I follow the link to washers and wipers diagram it starts at 33/1 in top right corner..is that a page or chapter number ? It only download 4 pages starting at 33/1 so I can’t go back any pages ? Sorry…what am I missing is there a link to each page i’m just not seeing

They are chapter numbers not page numbers, you are looking at page 4 so just go back to page 2 or 3 for the continuation of the lines you are looking for

Thanks Pauly, I did what you suggested and looked back a page and found some clues, I managed to work out the locations ( I think 😀) by cross referencing with the diagram for barn doors, that has a routing I could follow to where the rear wiper gets its power.
I will post up my results when I have actually run the wires.
Thanks for your help !
