Was able to drive to VW followed by AA after he pulled pedal back and checked for leaks no leaks.

OK, the slave cylinder is external on the 5 speed so would not have been replaced along with the new clutch.

Its almost certain that you have a slave or master cylinder fault (or both, though that's unlikely in the extreme) and never actually needed a new clutch at all. You wouldn't be the first.

An Internal failure of either wouldn't necessarily leak - they can simply stick or cease to function at all. My gut call is the mastter cylinder, but thats a finger in the wind guess.

Well, seeing as its had a new clutch a process of elimination narrows it down.

Its a shame you don't have the old clutch to hand for inspection. If they diagnosed the original problem as the clutch and that (probably) was not the problem at all they ought to refund.

However, without the old unit to point to youre stuffed. Once the master (or less likely slave) cylinder is diagnosed you can ask why they needlessly replaced the clutch, but youll probably not get anywhere. Best to suck it up and once the van is fixed nefer use them again.

Thank you great info will await diagnosis like to think VW get it right . Only broke down once in 50 years now twice in a month.
