Clayton 16” Winter Tyre Size?

HNY all
Off to the alps soon and want to swap out the 20” day to day wheels for the 16” Clayton’s I have stored in the garage.
Any recommendations for winter size for these alloys to give best ride, look, functionality?
Would you go for 205/65 R16 as standard or would you look to increase the profile to fill the look of the wheel out a little?
Any advice thoughts would be much appreciated.

It's going to be very icy in the Alps in the coming days. My daughter is going to ski in Austria this weekend and they forecast -15C. I would not care much about the look but about the functionality. Stick to the manufacturer approved size as you said and get top notch winter tyres, i.e. Michelins or Goodyears.
BTW, many police cars in AT are T6 and use the same size.
If you don't have 4mo I would throw in a pair of snow chains too, just for peace of mind. Been there, done that .

Not going until Easter with the van, hopefully not as cold but have been there at Easter in AT when it has dumped it before! See exactly what you are saying.
What snow chains would you recommend? Any particular brand?

Yeah, Easter is early this year and you can well get into some. But considering that you will go towards spring and that you will have a set of new winter tyres, I would say get something basic and easy to install, just to get out of of troubles if you get into. I got a pair about for 20 Pounds on Amazon.

Again, I think that are the good winter tires that make all the difference.
Chains are just for peace of mind, at the price of a couple of beers in Kitzbühel, Cortina or St.Moritz.
