cheap diagnostics?

Hi all, I'm a bit of a dunce when it comes to tech, but with the rising cost of labour for our vehicles I'm starting to do more and more my self. We have a VW Touran as well as our T6 and my sister in law has a Skoda. is there something cheap out there and idiot friendly that will allow me to do simple things like the reset on my electric hand brake, diagnostics so I can replace parts and update as needed etc? I don't have a laptop but have a work issue I pad or an android phone if that helps with downloads. P/S I cant emphasise enough how much of a div I am with technology.
Ta muchly for any help you can provide.

Both of these are comparatively cheap and work well with VAG vehicles for basic diagnostics and coding. Both will work on phones and tablets via an app.
OBDeleven is probably slightly better than Carista but there's not much in it.

Thanks for the reply. I had a butchers at these last night but still wondering if they would do what we need...? We currently have an issue with heating not working in drivers area. would either unit diagnose any potential faults and reset?

I have an iCarsoft for my Volvo.

Very good for reading and clearing all system codes, calibrating new components such as steering angle sensors, EGRs, etc . For general maintenance its as good as you'll get short of a proper laptops system.

But it lacks against the likes of Carista for adjusting settings, such as PDC or active cruise adjustment, different head unit logos, etc.

,
icar soft second hand for sale. Would this be any good?
ICarsoft has tens of products for different brands with different capabilities - so impossible to say anything.
If you are looking for inexpensive alternatives you probably should stick with VAG only tools.
For VAG group there are basically three alternatives: V1 series, V2 series, V3 series - the last one being the most capable/expensive

I'm not sure if the word "simple" is appropriate here
Anyways, the description of V1 suggests it's not one for you as it's missing service functions.

Also worth noting that for latest models of VAG group service functions are locked by factory so need factory tools e.g. to replace brake pads.

As usual I start off thinking I can do simple stuff like service, on both our VW vehicles, then after watching hours of YouTube realise I can do the brakes, then realise I can change the dsg oil and filter on the van ect ect.....! Our car has the button brake, there is also an intermittent fault currently with the ACC, van has no heating to drivers area, I'd also like to upgrade the OEM head unit for reversing camera in the van and a heavy has damaged my Nearside wing mirror when it was parked up so that will need sorting at some point If i can get them cheap enough second hand I might go for autofolding ones. My biggest problem is I can turn my hand to anything but can barely add 2 and 2 together and I have the same problem with the tech side. It all just goes over my head.. Maybe what I'm after is somthing that can do everything but in a very simple format that makes it easy for an idiot like me to use. Hopefully I can cut the costs dramatically on garage's doing the simple stuff and just go to them for the bigger things, like timing belts engine rebuilds ect. Many thanks by the way
