Changing my T6.1 Appearance

Hi after a little advice. I have a T6.1 Startline that is my fishing van. I know that the original front bumper and grill has been changed, but I don’t know where it was done or who’s parts are being used.

My question is if I want to change the black grill and black section where the fog lights would be to a gloss black one, would it be possible without changing the red parts or are they fixed as one unit.

If it’s possible how do I tell which would fit from the plethora on sale at Vee Dubs, THQ and Leighton.

This is my current front

Yeah you've still got the standard bumpers/grills just with a splitter on the bottom.

You'd be fine using the LV parts for a badgeless grill :

Or you could buy them seperately for the badged grill, looks like LV dont have the badged in stock.

Lower grill

Looks like it to me too. If the red lower splitter doesn’t overlap the dog bone black plastics, then yes… you should be able to change them easily enough, bumper off job though. If the splitter does overlap the dog bone plastics, then I’d leave as is, as the splitter would need to be praised off first.

I thought the start line bumper was like this which looks different and was not colour coded. But I do not know hence why I’m asking

To get a paint finish like the one in your pic, I would suspect that someone changed the bumper to a painted Highline one, then added the lower splitter?!? Could be wrong though. If the Start line one has been painted, it’s a good job and the dog bone is moulded into the bumper and cannot be removed. You would need a High-line bumper.

So I went and had a look the splitter is not joined to the dog bone also the dog bone is in sections with clear joins. I would have thought if it was the original moulded one it would be one continual piece here’s some closer shotsIMG_0997.webpIMG_0998.webpIMG_0999.webp

When I bought my van it had the original Startline one piece grill. I wanted fogs, so I found a place local to me selling a highline front in the right colour.
The guys at Professional Retrofits fitted fogs for me and coded them in.
My worry would be can you get gloss black dog bones without the fog light holes?
You may be forced into having fogs! More expense!
I bought the LV dogbones and found a well painted gloss black grill. Still can't make my mind up on the colour of the badge!

Whilst I still ponder what front I actually have and my options, one of the silver strips is detaching from the grill. There are no clips it seems to be glued on with a gel like glue.

What is best to use to adhere this back on

That definitely a highline bumper, so you’re fine to fit the gloss black parts listed above. There’s loads of other suppliers as well.
Just search ‘T6.1 Highline Gloss Black Grill’ and you’ll get what you’re after.

I’m on with the same project but I’m still on my original rubber bumper. As the previous poster mentioned regards fogs, I’m just gonna mesh over the holes.

The “silver strip” comes off anyway if you’re going with aftermarket grills. If you want to stick it back on for now then you want superglue really. And make sure it’s really really dry!
Foam style glue will push it out. Could use those double sided sticky pads like what they stick license plates on with?

Hi mate,
Just stumbled across your post. I’m in a similar position to you I think as I’ve brought a van (start line) with an upgraded gloss black front grill. But has holes to where the fog lights would normally go. I’m thinking of doing the same and putting mesh over these. So would be interested in seeing how you got on and if you could offer any advice?
Cheers
Rob.
