Totally understand what you are saying, but will it stop the degradation hopefully early enough so that I can continue to use the van without fear of it detonating itself?

It'll stop any further wear from that cause.

However, if it's using big-O-oil it's already mullered. Eventually, be it tomorrow or in a decade, that particular hand grenade is going to pull it's own pin.

First time I've needed to top up works out 1000miles to 1x litre. If it was a decade I could live with that of course, but tomorrow not so much. Big decisions to be made.

Speak to Darkside Developments and see what they recommend. They have plenty of experience with this engine
