Hi,

How many of you have done this yourself. I have bought the carpet and glue, but i am going to wait untill after New year to do ths. What i am wondering, is it best to do it in one or seperate panels. If seperate panels how did you do metal work, in bits or in one.

Hi @idge61, I did mine myself. Take the panelling out and cover these independently you’ll get a far better finish. Also it gives you the option to use different colours on the panels v’s the metalwork which adds a really nice look imo. As to the metalwork, if you can do it all the way round in one go then you’ll get no joins, however it is difficult if you’ve never tried anything like it before. Being stretch carpet means you can pull it and mould it into the ridges and troughs. I found a better result by putting a coat of glue on the panelling being covered, and then one on the back of the carpet; seems to give you better initial adhesive grab.

Is all your carpeting going to visible when you have finished ?
We did our own camper, and put a load of effort into getting it perfect on areas that are completely covered by furniture.
If areas will be hidden then focus on those areas that will be visible.
