Just looking around for the best place to see as many vans in the same place as possible. Im in Leeds but saw this show at the NEC:

www.ccmshow.co.uk

Whats it like? I fear travelling the distance and not seeing many Transporter related stands.

We went last year - Massives of Motorhomes & Caravans with a few Transporters.

We went to have a look at a T6 with a 130 Rib Bed Installed (which we ended up purchasing) so it was worth the visit.

If Bilbo Campers are there don't go taking any pictures of their conversions - the gumpy South African "lady" who works for them gave me a torrent of abuse!

I read that as "Challenge accepted"

She insinuated that I was taking pictures to copy their 'Ideas'. I pointed out to her that we were at the show to purchase a Campervan & that Bilbo were one of the companies we were interested in.

She basically made herself look a complete arse in front of quite a few potential customers.

I asked if she'd pose for a 'selfie' with us - the look on her face!

Looking at the list of exhibitors I can see the following that do VW Conversions and expect each to have multiple examples of their T6 conversions (plus a couple with Crafters as well) on show:-

Rolling Homes
Hillside Leisure
Volksleisure
CMC Reimo
Bilbos
Auto Camper
Danbury

There may be some others who's names I didn't instantly spot/recognise from the list. Even if you have no interest in using any of the above it is great to have a look at what some of the biggest players are doing.

It is a great show to have a look at not just the campers but all of the other bits you need to go with them.

Go and enjoy - worth the journey especially if you have never been to a camping show on this scale before. I'm not currently planning on going this year but have been for the previous 3 or 4 years (plus going to a similar show they hold in October a couple of times).

So the challenge is to see who can get the best photo of a Bilbo. Took some last time I was there but I think there are better conversions than Bilbo about now. I think some of the older firms have their work cut out to compete and rely on their name. @slidepods to name but one are now giving them a run for their money.

The golden oldies who have been around for years the dinosaurs. Thinking of going up on the Thursday so will be taking my camera :sneaky:

Why dinosaurs - they all build vans to tried and tested layouts that are proven to work and most are far from extinct? Sure, whist they do win design awards, they are unlikely to feature much in the magazines or win anything like a show and shine, but there is definitely a place for them.

Personally, I bought from one of the ones listed because I didn't want a Cali but still wanted to buy something "off the shelf" with the back up of one of the trade schemes, such as NCC, to ensure my vehicle has been converted to a safe and legal standard. Also made getting it insured a lot easier as it was a recognised model all I had to do was pick from the drop down list and include the purchase price rather than listing everything in the conversion and/or modifications.

Each to their own.

Only that they have been around a long time and in truth I feel they cost as much as a Cali though none of them seem to do anything comparable with my beach.

I'll be going - probably Thursday 22nd. Got a long list of bits & pieces to shop for.
Biggest bit will be a Fiamma bike rack if it's at a good price.
