Hello all,

Having my Cambelt and Waterpump replaced tomorrow along with Aux Belt & New tensioner.

Local VW Specialist is £699 + £150 =£849.00 £849 inc VAT.

Using genuine parts.

It’s been a while since I’ve had a Cambelt (6 years and, I paid £480 all in last time).

Is this the going rate?

That is the going rate I think, my daughter had an Audi A1 done 3 years ago and that is same quote.

My T28 was done at a local garage by previous owner Sept 2025 not genuine parts and was £915 inc Vat and they used Dayco Timing Belt and Pump kit apparently they are not good parts, but at least it was done.

Or in other words, an extra £150 would get the OP a two year warranty on the parts that he won't get if someone else fits them for £849.
Not sure there is VW Warranty of service parts;

Thats a different warranty.

New VW parts fitted by the dealer have a 2 year warranty, with certain wear and tear cavaets on consumables.

Its a lifetime warranty at Volvo, hence me still using the dealer 22 years after I bought the car, but its been a long time since VW offered a quality product or service.

Just to close out where I got to on price. I ended up using Midland VW.

I paid £860 for:
Cambelt
Water pump
Aux belt
New Tensioner
Crank Shaft Seal

The Aux/ Tensioner/ seal were done just because they were in the area and the price was good. All VW genuine parts too.
