Cambelt change - HPFP way out of alignment

Hi, First time changing a cambelt on a T6 (2019 startline). I have watched the well reviewed VAG video on youtube which i am following. However, I have lined the crank pulley up to the TDC mark on the casing and the locking pin slides into the cam pulley….great, but the HPFP mark is way off.

Please see:

Is it simply a case of putting the pins in the crank and cam, then re-aligning the HPFP, put the pin in that and crack on? Or do i need to spin the whole thing a few more times and it will be better aligned before removing the old belt?

Any help welcome.

Yeah, just pop the belt off and reposition the pump. That's assuming the cam and crank are in the correct position.

You might find the pump will not lign up spot on with the mark, but don't worry, just get it as close as you can
