CAK 48L Twin Water Tank Capacity issue

I recently purchased the CAK-T5PAIRFB twin underslung water tank kit (advertised as 48L capacity). I’m using a Shurflo 4009 pump, but I can only fill around 33L before water leaks from the breather. The breather is located on the wide tank and when that tank is full, the narrow tank doesn’t seem to fill completely.

I’d like to know:
  • Whether the tanks require an additional breather on the narrow side or if there’s a recommended modification to balance filling.
  • Any installation tips to ensure the full 48 L capacity is usable.
I am filling with a regular hose connector which has a valve in place and between it and narrow tank.

Sounds like it needs an additional vent. The drawing of the 205 shows a tank with two high points separated by a ‘cut out’. If only one side is vented there is no way the other side will fill.
Depending on the tank wall thickness you can drill a hole, tap a thread and fit a Legris or similar pnuematic fitting (ebay) with push fit pneumatic tubing. 5mm is plenty big enough for venting air.
I fitted a cheap inline fuel filter on the end of my vent tubes to prevent dirt / insects entering.

I have the skirt tank from CAK, and it has breathers in both parts (as there is a dip in the middle). Doesn’t surprise me that they missed it out, as mine had to go back twice before they got the inlet hole in the right place.
