Buffing Out Scratches

Getting a bit bored of being a scratch magnet. New 8" scratch on the bonnet. Bonnet? HOW????

Anyone have an idiots guide to dealing with the minor ones myself? Shopping list, method, youtube for numpties etc? If I don't learn I'm either going to have to drive a wreck or be bankrupt.
