Breakdown

I own a 2016 t6 204 bi tdi . Engine light came on then off again, then shuddered and black smoke from engine bay and stopped. No smoke when engine turned off . Any ideas , at garage waiting for answers

Got a video clip off it?

Black smoke might be unbernt fuel in the exhaust.... Normally from a turbo problem.

Maybe a blown turbo boost hose from the intercooler onto of the engine.

Had black smoke form engine bay when a hole blew in the intake manifold..

Turned out to be a totally blocked dpf , which starved engine .

Did you get any warning prior to this happening? I would have expected some warnings on the dash relationg to the DPF getting too full etc.

Only the engine management light came on then off again . I just thought it might of been a sensor issue

The symptoms pointed that way.
An engine that can't expel exhaust gases can't function.
What remedy do the garage propose?

They’re going to do a complete clean/overhaul of the dpf .

Since dpf has been cleaned ,rebuilt and back on vehicle.it’s turning in to a bit more than that now . As it’s looking like the intake manifold could be the instigator of the problem .hopefully it stops there , won’t know any more until middle of next week

I’m afraid not as the vans at garage and I’m working in different town . I think strip down if happening later today or first thing Monday morning
