Booked in with CRS, Koni Definition kit

So I picked up the phone to Steve @CRS Performance yesterday and following his advice he gave me the confidence to take the plunge and book my van in with him. After listening to me drone on he, without hesitation recommended their Koni Definition kit.

Im hoping for about an inch and a half to two inch gap between the tyre & arch. Currently im on 235/50/18 tyres and not yet certain if I will stay 18 or go 20. So hoping the kit will give me the same look depending on tyre size selected. And acknowledging that a 20inch wheel/tyre combo may not be as comfy as 18.

According to research using my electronic lover, I mean best friend, I mean online tool 265/35R20 is recommended as having a similar rolling radius.

A 265 35 20 tyre is indeed the same rolling diameter as a standard wheel and tyre ( IE 17 inch Davenport ) however the ride will not be good and cracked wheels will result as there isnt sufficent side wall protection , its 36 mm smaller side wall , not a great idea, rather go for a 18 inch wheel

Current uk road conditions cost motorist millions a year . suspension/tyres /wheels ect

When I had the 650s it had 35/front -30 rears profile
Designed by McLaren for the 19 wheel , never once it resulted in wheel damage ..

When Steve 'did' me nearly 2 years ago I already had 20's on, but with 35 profile tyres fitted, he advised me then to change out those tyres for a larger sidewall.
I booked for my local 'tyressmith' to fit Michelin CC2's with 245/45 on the fronts and 275/40 on the rears (staggered wheels).
How pleased was I when the nice tyre man showed me 1 front and 1 rear cracked rims! £300 odd quid each for 2 new rims, all because of 35 profile + potholes...
Both cracked wheels welded up taking up space in the garage ready for 'spare' duties.
Following Steve's treatment, the van runs really smoothly on 20's, no worries since, the ride is pretty damn good. No sign of the CC2's wearing out yet, 15k miles in now.

Good point Steve, I confess I had not considered wall thickness. But as @Maquis73 has shown on his stunning van, I could get the look I want with 18s.

The look is important but comfort is equally so. And I have a tendency not to follow tradition 😀. If I change my Sportlines I will consider it very carefully depending on whether the kit I have fitted by @CRS Performance will allow a change to a 20inch wheel with 40 or 45 profile
 
I’m sure what you’re looking at above are 18” wheels with 235/55/18 Falken Wildpeak tyres. That’s a really strong look in my opinion and will without doubt be far more comfortable and practical than 20” wheels.

Each to their own as always, but having had 20’s, then 18’s, then 17’s, I’ve been back on 18’s for three years now and for me this is the sweet spot without compromising on looks.
