Bonnet guard/bug shield

so seen a few things on stone chips on the screen and have a couple of bonnet chips already wondered do these bonnet guards actualy work or are they a gimmik? Never had one on any vehicle but then never had a van before so this is new ground for me? Any advice greatly appreciated

Well all I know is that there seems to be plenty of bugs on my shield

Have you got any stone chips or other damage above it or has it stopped those??
