Body Moulding issues

So a year ago or so I bought a full set of skirt body mouldings, including wheel arches from a reputable dealer. They were fitted by a local VW conversion company.

It turned out that several of the individual pieces didn’t match the color of others. I eventually had the company agree to replace the parts. Added to the problem - the installer claimed that wasn’t enough adhesive supplied to fit them correctly and used more. The supplier claimed there was enough. You can see the issue.

One of them is just flapping around in the wind and the others don’t look as if they are seated flush.

But now I have the time to try re-fit the new side mouldings myself I have no clue how to get them off. Will a hairdryer do the trick and then what if the remaining residue?

Has anyone had these issues before and could anyone give me a recommendation of how to remove them, please.

Regards

Si

My local windscreen company uses braided polypropylene cord, guessing at 3mm diameter.

Eraser wheels are available online to remove adhesive.
