black pop top going dull.

Hi guys.

I am looking help if possible. My poptop has a black roof(assuming it made of the same stuff as all other) and its gone a bit dull. i would like to shine it up.

what product can I safe;ly apply that will not harm the pop top roof.

This is quite common, given what it’s made of and its orientation to the sun, coupled by the fact it’s too high to polish!

Hi - my black pop top roof supplied by Austop has faded. It’s about 5 years old. I wouldn’t have expected this to happen? Anyone had a similar issue and how did you resolve it?

Always remember, polishing is removing a fine layer of paint. Wax puts a layer on and protects. So in many cases you polish then wax, but then keep on waxing each time you clean the car to stop the paint going dull again.

Hi all,

please see my pictures from todays Pop Top faded roof clean. Cracking results.

First pictures are post clean with Collinite 920 Fiberglass Boat Cleaner, 473 ml(Amazon) using Buffing Polishing Pads, 5Pcs 3.9 Inch Backing Plate Compound Buffing Sponge Pads For Polishing and Waxing with Grip Handle to get a good surface clean.

Then used OWETROL to give it a protective shine. I did not use a lot of it as it goes a long way.

Will post a picture after this weedends adventure to Bamburg castel to see how its holding up.

Also have an Autops roof on 21 plate that is in a bad shape.

Should this be covered under warranty?

I would suggest not. It's the inevitable consequence of chemicals in the environment/dirt reaching with UV light. It can be slowed or even halted with the correct maintenance regime, provided the starting point is a good surface.
