Best way to use DSG.

Just wondering the best way to use the 7 speed DSG on my T6.1 4Motion Camper. I have always had manual Transporters but now have DSG,
I have noticed that when driving around suburbs at 60kmh (30mph) the DSG puts me in 7th gear @1100 to1200 rpm. The van runs smoothly at that and if I need to accelerate , it immediatly changes down smoothly and when constant speed is resumed, changes back up to 7th.
To me, those low revs are going to make carbon deposits increase in the engine and it would be better for me to drop the gears to sit on around 1800 to 2000 rpm in those situations.
Has anyone got opinions on my assumptions please.? Cheers.

The VW way is to get it into the highest gear as soon as possible. You can get it remaped so it selects gears differently. Or use manual mode.

So do you think the VW way is the best for the engine, or do you think higher revs are better?

There's a comprehensive thread on using and understanding the DSG gearbox on the VWR forum.
