Bed won't slide all the way back on Caravelle rails

I have a Titan bed on Caravelle rails in my LWB T5, and it's hitting some stops before making it all the way to the back of the van - there's a cutout in the form of the seat to go around the D pillar which is around 100mm away, so the bed is designed to go further back but the rails won't allow it.

The main issue with this is I can't open one of the kitchen cupboards fully since the bench is further forward than it's designed for.

I've taken the rail covers off and can see a bar that runs through, does anyone know if it would be OK cutting this out? The only function I can see with it installed is to align the covers once reinstalling them.

Have they been put in to prevent sling any further? Why not remove them?

There's a matching notch with lead-ins on the rail covers so they're definitely supposed to be there, but I'm not sure if they serve any other purpose.
I'm happy to cut them out if not - to be honest I'm being a bit lazy cutting them as to get them out otherwise would mean taking the kitchen & ply floor out.

I've taken a snapshot for the image above from a listing on this forum - mine are currently installed.
