Barn Door Rear Washer - Why is mine rubbish?

Has anyone else here got rear wipers on a barn door T6? The washer jets have to jet up from the bottom of the window and they currently achieve around 2" before dribbling down the back of the van! Before I start poking around with a pin, is this the best I'm going to get?

Could be
-pump failure ( does the pump sound Ok? Disconnect pipe and check jet stream pressure directly from pump)
-blockage in pipes (disconnect from pump and air jet pipes)
-disconnection of pipe flanges/connections (check for leakages, strong washer fluid smell inside vehicle)

Please note i’m not a mechanic, and take no responsibily giving poor advices...

There is one washer pump for front and rear (think it reverse direction to send appropriate way) so if you have pressure at front its unlikely the pump at fault

I'm pretty sure it's not the pump - I'll need to check the nozzles aren't blocked though, as the water jet is so weak. As no-one else said there's were rubbish too, I'm assuming it's a fixable issue with mine! The van's only 6-month old but it seems a right faff to book it in just for that! Maybe I'll wait till something else breaks.........

in my opinion over the years of barn doors and tailgates with washers, they are all a bit crap, I poked about loads in the past and they have never been any better, it just points the water away from the screen with the slightest adjustment:eek:

Maybe its possible to choke the nozzle a bit? Try with strong tape / rubber cap with a smaller hole just for trying...

I have a tailgate so just one washer which works just fine. Of course I had to make a few adjustments to get the spray fully cover the full length of the wiper from the bottom to the top so that the spray doesn’t leave any dry stripes for the wiper to scratch the glass.

But as mentioned above in the thread because of the size of nozzle the adjustment is very delicate work. The washer fluid easily sprays either away and well above the van or just to the bottom of the screen.

I believe that part of the trick is to use good quality washer fluid which seems to make the spray softer and foamier, spreading out when making its way up. Using just plain water seems to make the squirt a kind of single pointed. After a few (less pricier) tries I ended up using VW’s own brand washer fluid, code G JZW 021 M3, as such (not adding any water) all year round. It works down to -21C which also is sometimes a beneficial thing up here :).
