Barn door opening beyond 90°

Can anyone point me in the right direction. My drivers side barn door hinge is missing the part that stops the door opening beyond a 90° angle.

It causes problems when using the barn door awning. I don't know what the part is called in order to get a new one, from what I see of the passenger side hinge it is only plastic.

Got a few pics of what you got now?

The holder is bolted into the D pillares and clips into the door catches.

I think I've found a second hand one on Ebay. £70!

Apparently it's called a stay and seems to cost £ 120 new.

Thank you for the D pillar reference.

Looks ok to me... It's just been pushed in..

Get a ring spanner over the top prog and pull it back out the van.

Then reclip it to the barn door.

I've done that loads of times.

Pull it.out hard, and the arm will come back out.

Happens with me when the part on the door gets a bit dirty and a bit sticky so that it doesn't spring back properly so I just clean the springy bit on the actual door leaf more often keep it clean you could possibly use a tiny bit of silicon lube maybe?

I'd be interested to see photos of your barn door awning in action. Glad you got it sorted. You are totally justified now to spend your £70 savings on beer and cheese! Well done Hamster!

Job done. The retainer was easy enough to pull out but every time I tried to engage it with the sprung door connection it pushed back in , I removed the bit connected to the door again, joined the two bits together and then bolted it back in place.

Very grateful to @Dellmassive for explaining how the mechanism worked, I originally thought the retainer had broken off, not pushed back into the door frame.
