Asking A Converter To Source A Vehicle?

What is the normal procedure, does one discuss specs, leave a deposit and pay the balance on completion? Or do you pay for the van in full and pay for the conversion later?
Or is it better to buy the van directly oneself?
Cheers

I don't think there is a 'normal procedure' - Call them up and have a chat...or go visit any local converters for a chat

You presumably have a 'wish list' in terms of the van you want/need and any future conversion

Talking to any converter/supplier will give you an idea of what they can offer, what they are prepared to do, if they want your business...and if you want to give them your business.

As above, speak to the convertors.

When we were originally looking Hillside gave us the option of them sourcing a second hand van to the spec we wanted and then applying one of their stock conversions - I guess with the volumes they deal in they have some pretty good trade contacts. They also tend to have a stock of brand new and second hand vans in the yard waiting to be converted.

In my case, I went for a brand new one sourced by Hillside to the spec I wanted - I paid £500 deposit with the balance paid on collection of the completed conversion.

With my converter, they sent me through a list of possible vehicles, specs and prices that they could source from their trade suppliers.
I looked at these, then looked on VW web site myself and ended up buying a van from a dealer down the road for a better price.
It also meant that I had the van to use and drive around while waiting for the build slot with the converter.
