Arrrrrgh - broke the wing mirror

Going away tomorrow morning for two weeks in the van and guess what - parking the trailer I am taking I reversed the van and caught the driver side wing mirror on a tree! Not too much surface damage but the alloy casting inside has broken the mirror is hanging down by its wires one of which is slightly damaged. Da****** Bu****** and all other words. I think I might be able to secure it enough to use and have fixed up the broken wire (perhaps) but;

- Do I need to buy a whole mirror? Heated, moving but not folding.
- Can I just buy the casting?

Anyone got one for sale! Drivers side T6 2018

Now I won't sleep well!

I did the same thing. You can buy just the aluminium castings on Amazon.
I ended up getting the whole thing off EBay

i had a similar thing (albeit by an idiot coming the other way on a tight road too fast) whilst on holiday a few years ago. the break happened where the aluminium bit mounts so managed to remove the fixings by the side of the road and use washers (well ring crimps cut down, as i didn't have any washers of the right size with me!) to hold the thing in place until i got back home a few weeks later where i just bought the bit for cheap on ebay and swapped it out.

£60 for whole new unit off eBay

OK. fixed up with a clever bracket I made from 4mm thread rod and an aluminium bar. Holds the mirror securely but I have determined a need a whole new unit and colour coded cover. Sorry forgot to take photos.

Also moved back in the woods and broke the rearview mirror. Replaced only the bracket. 56537800 . 7E1857507 . 2H1857507 . 7E1857000 . 4L1857409.

I broke the left mirror while parking. My T6 was almost new at the time so I did the logical thing and bought a new replacement (full mirror and stuffing) at the dealership. Have had some close calls but the side mirrors are still in place.

How much did that cost?

By the way, was it an electric folding mirror?

OK - so this time No 2 son hit the wing mirror off the garage wall. Fixed with a new aluminium bush easily. But when I came to re-assembly I was left with a Blue coax connecter that did not seem to have anywhere to go. Stupidly forgot to photograph before dissasembly. Everything seems to work OK including the radio - so is this Blue connector actually redundant?

Exactly what I bought 6 months ago for £50! Still sat in the garage waiting for a suitable occasion!
