Anyone store an ecoflow under their passenger seat? - can I drill a hole in the base?

I’ve got a double passenger seat in my van. It fits an Ecoflow River 2 Pro perfectly in there. Does anyone else do this? I’m concerned about the air flow to the ecoflow

Anyone know if it would be possible to drill a few holes in the side of the passenger seat base to match up with where the fan in on the ecoflow? Or would this affect the integrity / insurance down the line?

The seat base is pretty substantial - I've seen plenty of people drill large holes in the base for mounting plug sockets and switches for electric installs - I would think a reasonable size vent wouldn't be a problem. I don't know how warm the Ecoflows get in use, but maybe mount a 12V computer case fan so it can pull air through. Connect it to one of the Ecoflows USB ports. Job done!

Empirical data will help you decide whether to be concerned and Do Something or let it be and move on.

And repeat every so often as cells degrade with charge/use cycles and not all battery packs are created equal.

I haven't noticed my Delta II heating up at all and I used it in a cupboard with no ventilation. I guess it's not a valid comparision.

Do you have a seat swivel? Having a seat swivel creates a gap under the seat of about 15mm so if you have plans to install a swivel you'd not need to drill vent holes as that would likely be adequate.

It obviously depends what your plugging in to it. My assumption was that it was a lift up seat and plug in the kettle type set up. If its a permenant fixed setup with wiring routed in to the double seat base then obviously the swivel seat thing isn't an option.

I do exactly the same and never had an issue, that said, the ecoflow is the only thing stored under there so there's plenty of air space

One thing about the under seat spaces is that they tend to collect a lot of dust and debris. Easy to forget to clean vents etc.

I'd just run the Ecoflow...if it needs more air it will cut out and tell you. Then drill your seat if needed. Maybe overthinking things here. My Delta 2 is fine with cabin temperature of 39 and still runs the fridge.
