As in the title really.

I'm getting a highline so comes with the factory cat 1 alarm and immobilizer.
Also it's dsg.

Just wondered if anyone has added remote engine start to this as it could be handy.

Cheers

no clutch as its a DSG.

I was wondering if there is something out there than can interface with the factory one system.

One can dream lol

DSG = brake pedal instead

Question is why would you want to, if you are only looking to preheat the vehicle then an auxilliary heater would prob be easier and cheaper ?

heating is one factor yes.....

The other really is just a case of if its possible and not overly common it's a talking point and cool toy.

You might find something useful in document "Body builder guideline - The Transporter", in chapter "2.5.3.4 Contact assignment on the multifunction control unit (IS6)". Using that unit you can control a lot of functions in the van. For example turn on/off lights, hazard warning lights, horn, windows, central locking, interior lightning, activation of ignition bypass, deactivation start/stop system, etc.

For your purpose the drive assist functions available for physically challenged might offer solution, though those functions are not described in the doc. Just a mention "Via the LIN Interface, it is possible to connect a remote control drive assist..." which seems to be not a clear translation (at least for me) from the original "Über die LIN Schnittstelle kann eine Fahrhilfe Fernbedienung angeschlossen werden". The doc also describes several implementations of special purpose vehicles, perhaps some of them already has the capability.

Some time ago the doc was available in the link below, but unfortunately they seem to move things around (or their server is now down):

the IS range of terminals have to be factory ordered or the wiring won't be present
