Afternoon all. As promised an update to close out thread and give info to others when searching.
I have a T6.1 T30 Highline with Navis Mac AT wheels in 17”.
Fitted brakes at the weekend and YES you do need the bigger back plate. The ones that would be fitted to a van with OEM 340 mm brakes. The only difference is the cut out. So you could technically adapt the smaller ones. I just got new OEM ones to suit.
VW part numbers:
V7E0615312A
V7E0615311A
The kit is ‘plug and play’ to a greater degree, but required a little fettling on mine, as the inside ‘pad guide brackets/plate’ (that’s what I’ll call them), fouled the disc on the inside only. This was ONLY on the inner brackets. It was because the disc did not sit in the middle of the caliper. It was literally a millimetre or two off. Possibly due to assembly tolerance on my van or just my set of calipers from Nutexa.
As I say it only JUST touched (I could still easily turn the disc it just left a tell tale mark and you could hear it). So I removed the bracket/plate & ground off about 1.5 mm to offer clearance. (See photo) so it was flush with caliper body. This may?? have been due to paint underneath on the contact point where small bolt is. (But probably as stated “just my van” and where my hub to disc mounting plate sat. (All vans will be SLIGHTLY different).
Apart from that was easy peasy LS
Brakes are now bedded in and my impression is that the van now stops as I think it should have done from factory.
Much more initial bite and feel. You can really feel the calipers working. Downhill I now have more ability to scrub off speed. Let’s be clear I don’t drive the wheels off it, ( I’ve go another car for that) it’s just that overall it’s much more pleasant and confidence inspiring.
Looks…….. you be the judge. As I said in my comments above. That was not the driver for my purchase (just a by-product), hence why I went for black. Infact at a glance you wouldn’t know they are fitted unless ‘you know’. But at least when I now wash the van they won’t look all manky.

.
Clearance with my wheels between back face of spokes and rear edge of caliper is TIGHT

. But it still clears so that’s that. About 1.7 mm at using some plastic shims to prove. (Other wheels will vary).
Discussed all my findings with Russ @ Nutexa and he’s going to feed this into his guys. He was glad of feedback and happy I’d taken time to record it. (Yet again the sign of a great company).
In conclusion really really pleased with the much improved performance so if you’re at the stage where you need new discs and pads anyway on OEM or were thinking of upgrading from 304 to 340 using S/H OEM kit, well worth considering.
Hopefully this helps in a search and a big thanks to
@Nutexa Frictions for the kit and all your continued support.

.
Now. All I have to do now is sell my standard discs and calipers.

. (Yes I will put in for sale section. ).
Cheers.
