Hi all,

As per title really.... The account 'vw.transporter.parts' requested to follow me, so I had a look on their page and something caught my eye that I'd like to buy. The more I think about it, the more suspicious it seems. The page is only 7 weeks old but has 10,000 followers! And I'm not sure how the logistics of a community run buying and selling page works.

I'm really hoping its legit 😁!

Thanks.

That looks well dodgy.

it may be a "Deposit Scammer". eg Create profile, take deposit/part payment for goods, delay whilst harvest as many deposits as possible, delete account and disappear with deposits. Most common scam on FB marketplace & groups now.

Can pay for page follows as well to make page look legit.

Gits.

They page needs shutting down. ... Somebody call the Feds.

I hope I am very wrong. The lack of any contact details eg name and business address, is the giveaway for me. Even though that is illegal, Insta & FB Marketplace do FA about it.

I had my suspicions!

No, no money has changed hands... I had my suspicions and done some reverse image searches on Google but didn't find them anywhere else online. I was also struggling to get my head around a 'community selling page' with one central admin who does all the messaging.

This thread was part of my due diligence so thanks for the vibe check!

Well done for trusting your instincts, it's almost always a winning tactic.
