Android Car Stereos UK

To be fair if @AndroidCarStereoUK feel they have priced competitively then maybe a discount isn't easy to provide. I get this all the time in my business. "can I have a discount please?" "Well I checked and I am the cheapest in the UK and also I cant I am afraid" "oh well I will go elsewhere then". There does seem to be a discount culture where some people ALWAYS expect a discount whatever the price! Also they have had to come on this forum to defend themselves (whether rightly or wrongly - I cant comment) so are probably not in the most positive of moods with social media right now 😂

Ok, couple of issues here, not about the unit but about what people post.

@evansa has only posted once and thats a negative review of the seller and the item. Not sure that good etiquette for a Forum. At least post an introduction first before firing off......

@AndroidCarStereoUK your have identified the buyer by their first name which has not been disclosed on the forum before. I would be very careful as that COULD be a data protection issue. Identifying you customers personal data to a Forum is a no, no. Plenty of people wish to remain unknown, for a variety of reasons

mods take notice please

I personally wasnt asking for a discount, just a different route to purchase (and fit), if that was meant for me.

Thank you for your concern — and we understand the importance of data protection.

We’d like to clarify that no personally identifiable or confidential information has been shared. The use of a first name alone, without surname, address, email or any other identifying detail, is not classified as a breach under GDPR guidelines.

Our intention here has been solely to respond to misleading and public claims that were made about our business. While we always aim to act professionally and within legal bounds, we also reserve the right to defend our reputation — especially when publicly named and told to be “avoided.”

That said, we appreciate the reminder, and moving forward, we’ll refrain from using any names, even if limited. Our focus is simply to ensure accurate information is available to others reading the thread

The surname can be 'assumed' from the username however, so we know FIRSTNAME/SURNAME is a customer of yours. I know my GDPR too and I think you should edit that post.

Thank you for your comment. To clarify, no surname or confidential personal data was ever shared by us — only a first name that, as you noted, could be inferred from the user’s publicly visible forum username. Referencing publicly available information in this context does not constitute a GDPR breach.

We take data protection seriously and are confident we have acted within legal and ethical boundaries. The forum admins have since amended the post to address concerns.

Our goal here is to provide clear and honest information to the community, not to engage in speculation over data privacy based on assumptions.

Also, while we respect your knowledge of GDPR, it’s important that discussions focus on facts relevant to the matter at hand.

On a lighter note, it’s interesting to receive advice on professionalism from someone with such a distinctive username!

Thank you.

I dont know what you're infering but the cook was useless. I wont name them though

I now know the posters sex too which they had not disclosed. Just need their bank details and I'm away

I'm from yorkshire and am fully aware that absolutely anything that is for sale is over priced by at least 100% hence the need for a discount. Even with a discount I'll likely still feel robbed. I personally find it offensive that vendors feel they have the right to charge for goods and services...

Well, that escalated quickly.

Once mine has arrived and I've fitted it, i shall give feedback on the unit.
Maybe not my electrical prowess

I have emailed @AndroidCarStereoUK a couple of times prior and post my order, and so far they have been extremely helpful.

Glad they're not offering discount, I would have been pissed off by missing it by a day :slow rofl:

Hi xxx (name redacted)

We’d like to set the record straight for the benefit of others reading this, as your comment leaves out a great deal of context and misrepresents the situation.

Return Refusal
You contacted us on 12th June, 12 days after receiving the stereo on 31st May. While this falls within the 14-day window under UK law, that right only applies if the product is unused and in resaleable condition.

You had already:
- Installed and wired the stereo into your vehicle
- Powered it on and tested multiple features for 12 days.

That level of use exceeds the limits of a basic inspection and invalidates a change-of-mind return. We have explained this to you several times, and it is backed by the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

"Boiling Hot" Claims
We explained that all stereos generate some heat during use—just like OEM units or smartphones. Our product has an internal heat sink and thermal protection system, and would shut down automatically if unsafe temperatures were ever reached.
In over 6 years of supplying this exact product to thousands of customers, we’ve never had a single overheating complaint or incident. Your unit was simply warm due to normal operation.

Sound Quality & Screen Brightness
You acknowledged to us by email that the stereo is not faulty.
The screen is a standard LCD panel. Like all LCDs, visibility in strong sunlight will be reduced.
Sound quality depends heavily on vehicle setup and settings, and we received no evidence of any malfunction.

Customer Support Offered
We repeatedly asked you for videos or photos of any technical faults so we could help resolve your concerns without needing a return — as stated clearly in our returns policy.

You provided only one unclear photo, which actually showed the FM antenna connected to the wrong port — confirming an installation error, not a product fault.

We’ve been in business for many years and work hard to support our customers with clear instructions, expert support, and honest expectations. It’s unfortunate that you chose to publicly post a misleading comment after being unhappy that we could not bend legal return rules to suit your preference.

We are 100% transparent, and any prospective customer is welcome to contact us directly to view customer photos, working demo videos, and to ask us any questions about setup, brightness, or features.

Thank you.

How is one supposed to prove its boiling hot ..I wouldn't bother taking the time on here to let others know of my experience if I was just making things up. The temp of the metal cage was so much that it was difficult to hold for the photo ...it was then that i decided that it was coming out and not going back in!
I saw it recommend on here so am annoyed I have a different experience ....I didn't 'wait' 12 days. I had to get someone to fit it and contacted straight away when fitted as wasn't happy. Took for one drive and the dab signal cuts in and out while driving..maybe thats because of where I live or the wiring was wrong. I didn't want to get my phone out and film while driving for 'evidence' i'm not comfortable with that so I did what I could and took the screen and wiring photos as requested on which I discoverd the temp issues..I wasn't trying to add another thing in the mix..there was enough issues before that one! My main one being the screen....I wasn't happy with the screen quality on max brightness and no thats obviously not a fault. I just didnt think it was fit for purpose...I am apparently not allowed that opinion. A company that values their customer service would accept a return from a dissatisfied customer or would atleast be concerned with a heat issue enough to offer to have it back to check it and finally...adhere to data protection! Also I discovered I received a different spec to what I ordered! but don't see the point anymore..I don't need the stress.
They give very quick generic well rehearsed repsonses to emails and hide their address. I wonder why.

Sorry to hear you have had a struggle with this. It does sound like it's definitely not fit for purpose to me. A dim screen alone implies to me that the unit is faulty and certainly not as described - no one wants a dim screen. I would very likely be in your situation. I would very likely not be able to get it fitted straight away and if I had the issues you have had I'd have responded exactly the same way. If the seller weren't able to exchange I'd be sending it back for a refund as well.

Online consumer law should have you covered - you have the right to a refund, repair, or replacement for faulty goods that are not of satisfactory quality, not fit for purpose, or not as described.

But - "we do not replace products simply because someone claims there is an issue."

I think the fact that you have declared the unit not fit for purpose within the required time frame and the seller is insisting you send photos and evidence and then subsequently going to the extent to almost smear you on a public forum says alot. You are well within your rights to report on an experience with a vendor and I don't think it's unreasonable for a vendor to at least offer an exchange for a presumed faulty unit.

Maybe send us some photos of your issues? Or try sell it on the forum and recoup some of your loss?
