Alarm keeps going off

Hi all.

So i lock the van(press once) and about 30 seconds later alarm goes off.

I've checked for insects etc and can't find any reason why it'd be going off. I've tried covering the sensor up and still plays up.

Carista shows I have a 'backup battery:flat' fault. I'm curious to whether this could be an alarm backup battery? B1916F2 , but pretty sure this is related to the sos system.

If i double click the lock button it's fine.

Cheers

Tom

@tom549 if you have the switch on the B pillar by the drivers seat press that turns red to orange and single click the fob to lock and see what happens this disables the motion sensors

How about checking anti-theft system history data for alarm triggering in the BCM - to narrow down the cause?
E.g.
Anti-theft warning system: history data-Cause for alarm activationHood contact

Unfortunately Carista probably can't do that. VCDS for sure, quite possibly also OBDeleven.

Don’t know on the T6 but I’ve had it on an A4. The alarm siren on that has an NiMH battery in that will allow the siren to sound if the power is cut.

Eventually that comes to the end of its life. Audi recommend fitting a new siren as it’s sealed but I dremelled it open and soldered a new one in.

I knew it was faulty as it would make a noise from the siren when I locked the car. Not a full alarm sound but almost a beep to confirm it was locked.

Occasionally when I unlock and open the door I get a faint beep too. Sounds not to dissimilar. I guess the alarm battery's dead then

I'll see if a friend can find anything on his obd11 and see what causing it ta

Make sure everything is secure? No curtains hanging loose?

Have to admit, ours went through a phase of doing that, soon after we first got it.

No idea why, and eventually it stopped!

Yeah, I'd say insect......our T'Cross sometimes does it as we use it for vegetation removal occasionally.
Our Vivante doesn't do it as yet.

I had this with my t6 ,it turned out to be a sticking sliding door lock gave it some penetrating oil and sorted the alarm going off ,worth a try and all other locks .

Thanks for your replies/suggestions much appreciated, I'm thinking back and on a sub zero morning tried opening side sliding door which was frozen solid so left it at that, yesterday with air turned milder(only slightly) was able to open the door. I would normally have a small 200 watt tube heater going overnight in the van these winter months but with the now price of leccy my Scrooge instinct kicked in.

Low battery is another possible cause, if the voltage gets too low the van gets upset
Actually, that might have been my reason, the first winter I didn't have the CTEK until late in the New Year.

Hi, oddly mines had a lot of work done at Vw recently amd lots.thay didnt work properly sems to work well. Except when I got it back the sliding door was really sticky to undo. Did you find this to be causing your alarm to trigger? If so, did you put your oil into the latch at the back, or into the mechanism behind the handle? I have done the latch at the back bht not been in behind the panel as yet. Cheers

Yes rear latch and I also did the handle and actuator there is a small hole in it
Brilliant thanks. I have noticed on the dash display it sometimes shows as still open even when its closed, so been closing it a bit more firmly and seems to have stopped, that with lubricating the lock mechanism!! Now to find out about the other quirks I've just discovered!! 😂
