Adding Switch to Rear 12v Plug and Boot Light

Hello,

I have done some searching on here but wanted a definitive answer to put my mind at ease.

In my 2019 Shuttle I am wanting to add a switch to the nearside 12v cigarette plug behind the second row seat and the boot light.

It will mean I can leave my cooler plugged in and manage the power with a switch. With the light, when camping the tailgate is up a lot and the light stays on even if I turn off the master cab interior lights.

If I was to cut the + and - and add a simple switch before reattaching to the plug, would this achieve what I want?

Yes but you don't need to cut into both wires, just one and run it through the switch.

Normally the switch would be on the +I've side,
As for wire gauge, use at least the same as the existing wire. You could also use something like this as a guide...

Thanks all. As I am not really adding any length with the switch situated next to the light/12v plug, I will cut the positive feed, add spade connectors and can reuse the original wire.

Am I right in thinking the fuses I need to locate in a 2019 shuttle are under the passenger seat?

Good little mod and I'm sure other campers will appreciate not being blinded every time you open the tailgate.
