I’m hoping to pick the brains of all you people cleverer than me when it comes to electronics...
I have a 2018 T6 Shuttle which I’m in the process of turning into some sort of day van/camper/dog van conversion. I want to add a leisure battery (+ solar panels + EHU) and originally planned on running a cable from the start battery to a Redarc dc-dc charger or BMS, but I’ve discovered that I have wiring identical to this under the front passenger seat:
I would ideally like to use this positive 12v feed for a Redarc BMS1230, but this device states that it can draw up to 50A from the vehicle battery. This cable appears to be 10mm2 and if I was running my own wire from the battery I would likely have gone bigger.
Is it ok to use this wire for that kind of load? Or should I run my own? (I’m not exactly sure of the length of the wire but I can‘t imagine VW have gone for anything other than the shortest possible length!)
