Adaptive Cruise Control VCDS mods

Hi guys,

I was wondering if there are any known mods we can do to the Adaptive Cruise Control through the VCDS?

I've done a search but can't seem to find any thread discussing this.

On my T6.1 my Adaptive Cruise Control identifies a vehicle in the lane next to me and slows down instead of over taking. I understand why it has this function but I wish it didn't. My wife's Skoda also has Adaptive Cruise Control but doesn't pick up the vehicle's in the next lane which makes me think I could possibly turn off this feature.

Also I have noticed if the car comes to a complete stop while the ACC is activated (like when in peak hour traffic) it asks you to step on the brake to keep the ACC activated. I was wondering if there was a way to adjust the time it needs you to respond to stepping on the brake before it disengages the ACC.

Any instructions on how to do these types of mods would be greatly appreciated.

It is way above my pay scale to advise on any modifications to the ACC system I very rarely rely on mine in any case only using it in some of the longer 20mph zones which are all over Wales now. I have heard somewhere on this forum that the radar device fitted to the front if it has taken a nock or is otherwise misaligned then it can be more sensitive to things at the side. Also very occasionally or perhaps rarely my collision avoidance system might become oversensitive to a curb just after some lay-byes in certain towns that is were the curb suddenly curves out towards the road. The T6 that I am driving will suddenly do an emergency brake. On other occasions it does not do this sand their have been one or two other instances when this has happened. Other than those few occasions it has been fine. I think that it may be just oversensitive for some unaccountable reason or other. When it happens I am quite pissed off because it comes out of the blue and one immediately become sensitised to the vehicle and wondering what the heel caused that. Nothing apparent then months and months later may be more it will happen again and then never does it again for a very long time. I have known it to operate off road and get arsey about ferns or clumps of thick grass drooping over the trackway but then it will be fine for ever more. Perhaps because of my derogatory language towards it can not repeat here their may be assertive youngsters  about has made it more timid or has ceased to operate, though if that was the case I doubt that it would allow me to use ACC on 20mp zones In the setting for your ACC on the menu in the entertainment screen, have you tried to adjust its sensitivity on the T6 one has some minimum control. :)

Would love to be able to tweak my ACC, it's the same on our Touran, just a bit over enthusiastic at times. Otherwise really good.

@Bluephantom, I presume the situation you're describing is where the detected vehicle is in the lane to your right (i.e. you're about to undertake someone)?

If so, I don't know about altering ACC via VCDS, but you can easily override this behaviour by dabbing on the accelerator just as the system detects the vehicle. This will maintain the van's speed through the undertake.

Yeah but it's annoying having to do that. Would love to tweak mine as well.

Sure, but the circumstances in which you can legitimately undertake are few and far between, so the frequency of annoyance should be low.

The Frequency is at least 7 to 10 times a day, because there are so many D**kheads who drive 10 km/h below the speed limit in the fast lane. I don't call that low frequency.

But not only that, on some roads that I drive on with the ACC, there will be a right-hand turn lane, and if a car is using it, they will slow down to a stop to make the turn, and the van will suddenly slam on the brakes when I'm passing it. There has been multiple times when the cars behind me are beeping their horns at me for braking agressively when its not necessary. Eventually, someone is going to ram up my ass because of this stupid feature.

And as my wife's car doesn't have this feature with ACC, and I often drive her car too, I keep forgetting that my van's ACC will behave differently.

This feature is a safety hazard and should have the option to turn it off. If anyone can help me do that, I will be extremely grateful.

Just realised you're in Oz, so it may be different over there.

Here in the UK there are very limited circumstances when you can lawfully pass someone on the nearside. Without exception, these circumstances involve reduced traffic speeds and undertaking lane-hoggers isn't lawful.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not an apologist for the way ACC works - I have a love/hate relationship with it and have my own gripes with the way it works - but it took me a while to realise the driver could override/avoid the behaviour, you describe, so I thought I'd share that snippet of knowledge.
