ACC fault

Driving home a few weeks ago and acc kept cutting off, when I got back I had a look and the plastic protector had broken and was flapping about in front of the sensor. Fitted anew one today, anyone else had a problem ?

I guess that was an unlucky stone strike?

Which bit did you replace?

I had a similar issue with my ACC yesterday, the cover had come loose around the front sensor so I clipped it back into place but I cannot activate the ACC. I have tried resetting from the MFD and checked the plug is connected onto the sensor, is the only way to reactivate via a laptop and Vagcom?

My assumption would be that as it’s a critical safety system the errors would not self reset (same as airbags etc) and would need to be manually reset with software

Beware of ACC defects, someone had reversed into the front of ours and the system became deactivated even though it was only slightly off centre. There was no damage to the front of the van but a towbar must have pushed the sensor off centre, it will cost me £420 to realign and calibrate the sensor!!!! VW near me do not do the realignment it is contracted out to a local bodyshop, I will be on the warpath with neighbours who have towbars from now on as this isn't a cheap fix. Has anyone else had this system re-calibrated and am I being totally ripped off??

I had our Touareg realigned and the first thing that had to be done was a 4 wheel alignment, so not too unrealistic.
