5 Speed vs 6 Speed on 150ps

Wife’s got a 1lt Skoda scala (with 6 gears, never in the right one!) and that feels like a rocket when I drive it so it definitely comes down to what you are used to.

I’ve often wondered about the 84bhp vans and whether that would be enough, wasn’t an option for us as we wanted the baked in luxury of the highline (although can’t remember now what that was exactly) but for a long time now I’ve bought/leased vehicles with the smallest engine in the range and I’ve never had an issue keeping up with traffic. To me it just makes sense.

Our other car is an EV which has pretty rapid acceleration - I just don’t compare it with the van in any way. Well I do - can’t make a brew or a bacon butty in the car & it’d be a bloody uncomfortable night’s kip! ;)

Just not sure whether to discount the van as it looks awesome otherwise!

They were going to buy the rear seats back off me for 1500, so it would have been 25.5k vat free, which I thought was a good deal - but then I thought it was the 110bhp version. That's true though, I should give that a go...

I think that’s key tbh. Drive it and see how you like it. If it drives how you want it to and it clearly looks like you want it to, judging by your comments, then it matters not whether it’s technically 110 or 150.

I do agree that you then need a price based upon what it actually is, a 110, in order for you to consider if you are happy. I don’t know what difference in price that might be though, in the real world.

Only then can you decide if the van is worth the price, but know that you can’t compromise if you feel really strongly that it doesn’t drive how you want as a girl 👧 d price for a good looking van won’t have the same feeling if the drive doesn’t float your boat.

Predictive text!

That was meant to read:

…that it doesn’t drive how you want then it’s a good price for a good looking van but won’t have the same feeling…

Trouble is (and the reason why I can get it VAT free) is in in Germany, so there's a part of this where I need to find a near enough perfect one before I make the trip back to check it out

Drive some vans in Germany to see what suits you. I’d try a 102, 150 manual and a 150 DSG. Then you know what you will be happy with rather than what other people are happy with. There are so many vans on the market you should have a great choice once you know what basic spec you want. Don’t get swayed by aesthetics or other aspects and regret having the wrong base van in the future.
