We use a small 2kW Dimplex heater model DXUF2N we bought from Argos. It’s switchable between 1kW and 2kW with variable speed and warms things up quite quickly. It has a safety cut-out so if it gets knocked over it cuts out instantly. It’s also physically small so takes up little space when packed away.

We use a little (unbranded) 600W oil filled radiator that we bought in The Range a few years ago specifically for the van - if left unchecked, it makes the van a bit too warm when it's around 5° outside but it does have a thermostat. I can't remember exactly how much but i think out was around £20. The cable fitted to the thing was only about 1M and just wasn't long enough so I replaced it with a 2M cable and all good. There's loads of them around if you google it.
