2022 T6.1 manual A/C recirculation button not working – button press detected but no activation

Hi,





I have a 2022 VW T6.1 Transporter with manual A/C. The recirculation button has never worked since I bought the van last month.





Symptoms:

• button LED never lights up
• pressing the button does not activate recirculation
• system stays on fresh air

What I found:

• no fault codes in 08 HVAC
• in live data, the button press is detected
• but recirculation status does not change
• fresh air/recirculation flap specified and actual values do not change either

So the button press seems to be seen by the system, but no command is sent on to activate recirculation.





This makes me suspect:

• faulty climate control panel
• panel logic / coding issue
• possibly wrong internal panel function

Has anyone seen this before on a T6.1 manual A/C?

Mine seems to only activate recirculated air when it is either set to max hot or max cold.

Solved: recirculation does not activate when airflow is set to windscreen/defrost. It works normally in the other air distribution positions. So this appears to be normal system behaviour rather than a fault.

As you've found out, this is normal operation when the windscreen de-mist setting is selected.
