2017 VW Tiguan drivers mirror issue

Hello

I know this is a forum for Transporters, but I've seen that some folk on here have had the same issue with the drivers wing mirror that I'm having with my 2017 Tiguan.

When I lock the car the drivers mirror doesn't fold in. If I use the fold icon on the mirror console both fold as normal, although the drivers is slightly slower.

Googled it and the common suggestions are;
Try holding it to bring it into sync (you hear a loud click)
Try lowering/closing the window and holding to reset comfort setting.

The battery hasn't been disconnected so I know that's part of the issue.
I bought the car from the company I work for and it had had a bit bump on the drivers door (which I got repaired) so I'm wondering if maybe it caused some damage to the actuator/wiring/module.
I took it to a VW garage and they claimed it's the door actuator that's faulty and wanted £500 to sort it. No chance.

Just wondering if anyone else has managed another work around 🤔

I've bought an actuator and door panel removal kit off ebay just in case 😉

Cheers
Col

I had to reset my folding mirrors on the T6.1 today (also showing as the windows wound down on the my VW app).
They had stopped folding in when I locked the door.
To do this I wound the window as far down as it would go and kept the button pushed down for a few seconds. I then wound the window up as far as it would go and kept the button pressed for a few seconds.
This has reset the window lifter. It has also reset the brain and the door mirrors now fold up.
I hope it works for your situation:)

Hi Martin and thanks for the reply. The issue with my drivers wing mirror was that the actuator/door mech was faulty.

I replaced the actuator with one I got off ebay for £40. Found a vid on YouTube on taking the door card off and removing the door mech. Took about an hour to sort and the wing mirror is fine now 😊👍
