Further update on Mine... P164B has now disappeared from the fault code list and has been replaced by U1019. I've posted about it here U1019 Oil sensor location help! Now I need to work out which sensor is responsible, where it is and how to get one!

Well as seen as there is a high, low and a regulator and they have only replaced the high, i would firstly find another garage as it sounds like they dont know vw’s that well and then for the sake of £100 in parts plus your labour i would replace the regulator first and then see how you go!

Did you use OEM parts? Besides the generic OBD code P164B, do you have also the VW specific code (see post #2)? I'm afraid the way forward would be: (1) to verify the high pressure switch actually indicates high oil pressure. (2) to verify oil pressure regulator activity is followed by high oil...

Currently have a van in and out of limp mode due to flashing coil light and this fault. I've changed both sensors for genuine parts, new oil and filter, both plugs are getting voltage 7v top and 9v bottom kinda stuck anyone else had this issue with the sensors?
