...at normal idling - lets say at red traffic light or have parked up outside your shack - check the revs. Mine are about 900rpm at idle.
During a regen mine go up to 950-1000rpm ish. A subtle but noticeable indicator when just about to switch off the engine.
I usually have a quick look at the...
I think VW should have add an Indicator/display to check the sooth mass level or the regen indicator to the vans. I now use a cheap OBD Bluetooth adopter ELM327 (£2.50 on eBay) and VAG DPF Lite (a free App) just to check the sooth level, as I had to keep the van few times idling soon after...
When my T6 204 BiTDI DSG LWB shuttle does a regen I don't really notice and issue when driving other than a bit of hesitancy when pulling away. However if mid regen, when I'm manouvering slowly, worse in reverse(?) i get an awful whistling sound almost like a roof rack whisling at 80 mph and the...
A single yellow mil light is normally emissions related.
Note the codes as you have done.
Regen will still occur with a fault.
Clear the code and see what comes back..... If it's a fault glow plug it will come back.
I had similar a while back.
So if it regens on the motorway I’m unlikely to know that it’s doing it unless I notice the MPG figure drop. I’ll look at getting a carista and DPF thing - does that need a monthly subscription?
It’s fine to switch off once the revs drop to normal. This negates the risk of oil dilution due to fuel from the regen.
Next time you drive the van it will carry on with the regen. I have checked this many times since the tech told me using vcds and mostly VAG DPF.
Edit: Idling does not...
As mentioned above, the app and dongle are very useful. However, if you are looking for quick indicators that a regen is underway, I monitor the starter battery voltage with a volt meter/usb charger gadget permanently plugged into a convenient cigarette/accessory power socket on the dash. During...
...well as the dirtier exhaust.
C'est la vie
Yesterday, someone I know with a T6 pulled up. They turned the engine off while the DPF was doing a regen.
I told him that and he said 'whats a regen?'. He didn't know anything about DPF/EGR etc and I didn't think it was my place to add another worry...
...doesn't always work and will update while driving anyway.
2. Makes no odds. It's almost inevitable that you'll do the 150 mile trip and the regen will start just as you're pulling up on the drive. Once a regen starts a drive with revs up around 2k will normally take 20 minutes to see the...
...I only drive slow anyhow. I was getting around 38mpg before the change then it went up to 45mpg I though Bonus..
UNTIL!!!!! The T6 went into a regeneration. Driving at 20mph while regen is ongoing isn't good.
I have the VAG regen app so monitor everything all the time.
The temp of the...
