Is anyone able to offer advice/ opinions on whether my rear main seal needs replacement? (T6 CAAC engine, 6 speed box, mileage 75k) And if I need to replace it, do I need to drop the sump and use the special tool T10134 or is there a work around? I have just dropped the box and removed the...
So got a hefty quote for a few things on the van whilst in for MOT and service. Mainly for the DMF but might as well do as much as possible whilst it's all off.
An unforeseen cost is there's an oil leak at the crank seal. The mechanic says he'll need to take the timing belt off to replace it...
2 x 1L 5W-30 VW engine oil.
One of the bottles has been opened and a little oil used. The other is sealed.
Now the van is gone this is just sat in my garage so £20 posted to uk mainland.
...5 year / 80,000 mile warranty.
It went in for a service and MOT last week and it's noted in the health check of 'Misting from front main oilseal', having had a search I am concerned this could turn into a bigger problem. Should I be pushing them to fix under warranty? I had seen somewhere...
...camp.
It’s now covered in oil on the offside below the timing belt cover.
In at the garage today for timing belt, water pump, crank pulley oilseal and a full service.
Had a phone call to say that the oil leak is above the oilseal and without stripping more stuff off it’s hard to tell where...
Yes it's definitely engine oil. The bolt holes for the flywheel go through to the engine. So what you can see through the bolt hole is the inside of the engine. When the flywheel comes off, surplus oil leaks through the bolt hole and onto the seal area so you have no way of knowing whether the...
I have got a oil leak which appears to be coming from the crankshaft oilseal and also the engine cat warning lights come on.
We had a new cambelt etc last year.
No other symptoms.
Can anyone in Devon or anywhere near recommend someone to diagnose and fix these problems on our T6?
Hi I have an engine oil leak coming from under my Van but cannot work out where it is coming from?
It appears to be coming from between the sump and gearbox joint, possibly the hole on the sump side to gearbox but cannot be 100% sure. Oil does not appear from any higher than the top of the...
my van is in for an mot and they have noticed its got an oil leak from the crankshaft main oilseal,
i have the all in warrenty but the claim has been rejected.
Has anyone had this done under the all in package ?
the van has full vw service history and only done 68k
So,my 2.0tdi van has been in the garage today, new timing belt, water pump and tensioner, all being changed due to the crankshaft seal leaking and contaminating the belt, so the garage rang me up to tell me the vans done! But it's still leaking due to the face on the crankshaft being worn so the...
Almost a year to the day since having my gearbox stripped and repaired due to the spider gear spline failure I have noticed a leak at the driveshaft seal for the drivers (longer) driveshaft. I will speak to the company that repaired the gearbox on Tuesday and hopefully they will sort it...
Good point about splitting the jobs up for each side of the engine. Might have to consider it to spread the cost.
Ye DMF, clutch kit with slave cylinder, fwd crank seal, cambelt and water pump. Also gear box oil and inspection of splines and gearbox mounts. All currently on the quote
Will add...
I have just installed what was sold as an OEM oil filter. Once the engine is up to temperature there is a weep of oil from the screw top. Or that is what it strongly looks like as it's from above the oil cooler. I have installed new seals but my question is are they all equal in quality. It...
I have quite a lot of oil, low down, where the plastic intercooler pipe joins the rubber pipe that enters the turbo. Is this a sign that the turbo seals have blown or is it common. Van runs fine and pipes are not split it's leaking from the joint.
Any advice welcome.
