Did any of the broken belt get underneath the cambelt cover? It has been know for a broken alternator belt to make the cam belt either jump teeth or snap.
Hi there,
I'm looking round to find a specialist recommendation for cambelt work on a t6 in the Evesham/worcestershire area.
I've been quoted £925 for cambelt & WP. Tensioner aux belt and the crankshaft seal. Non genuine parts so I'm wondering if that seems a tad steep and there are any...
It's all in here.

Basically, it's now up to you.
But if it was me, at 5 years, I'd change it.
Hi All
there was brand new HPFP pump fitted with cambelt ( Delphi with same part no )
Fuel pressure sensor and fuel regulator was changed as precaution as well ( fuel pressure original VW , fuel regulator Delphi )
The front sealing flange for the crankshaft on CX** engines is a common problem - oil leak starts around 100-120k km. When changing cambelt kit - ask to get the sealing flange changed as well. It won't add much labor as most of the necessary parts will be removed anyway.
CXGB is your engine...
Often they put a sticker on the engine (cambelt cover probably) with the date and mileage the cambelt was changed. Worth a look, and otherwise I would assume it has not been changed.
I do intend to get the genuine cable, the van has just emptied my wallet recently - clutch and starter motor plus cambelt.
Is there a way to record this or should i do a video?
...from the dealer (t5 2015 113bhp 54,500 miles) when they phoned to cancel the appointment as they had just found that the pulley between the cambelt and water pump was faulty.
I’ve already had some great advice from the forum as originally the dealer had agreed to change the cambelt and water...
After a few years, a water pump might be difficult to determine it's age. I'm sure you are correct for the vast majority of garages.
I would like to find instruction on an east method of viewing the cambelt without it being a major job
Unsure on cost ,had mine done twice under warranty! It’s cambelt off ,and bottom crank pulley then you can get to crank oil seal . Plenty of you tube videos on the issue
Oh , didn't know it has a top mounted intercooler ,ala subaru , just assumed it was front mounted or the cambelt has just been done a few days ago lol.
Note to self. Read the thread ha
