not much in comparison to your trip @AeonMach

3 months every winter rough camping in my SWB, I’d stay longer if I was allowed.
I do it for the climate but there are significant financial savings.
Tarifa area is normally the final destination.

I loved Tarifa when we went. At first I thought it was just a windswept beach with some amazing kite surfing.
Then we found the old town and ended up staying a few days. Loved all the little alleyways and bars.

I like the area between Conil de la Frontera to Tarifa, pretty much unspoilt coastline and very laid back. Thankfully hours by road away from the nearest airports and a good distance from easy rail travel.
The heavily populated Med’ coast is a sewer, wet wipe beach sculptures and wave breaks that look like milky tea.

That sounds great, something I would like to do. Especially of there are significant financial sayings. (How does that work)

No bills for home heating, water, electricity other than the standing charges.
Food and drink is way cheaper than the UK.
Parking is free.
Diesel was about £1.10 / L last winter.
Filling up with wine on the way home covers the ferry ticket and diesel one way when compared with UK supermarket prices.
If you really want to go to an aire it’s about £12 / night.
Christmas in Spain starts at Christmas not October and excessive shopping isn’t mandatory or normal.

I still think Tarifa is just a wind swept beach full of kite surfers . 🤪
Winter in Spain is defo our thing , agree with it being cheaper and much more appealing

2 years ago we went ferry Dublin to Cherbourg. Few nighta in Annecy then through the Mont Blanc tunnel and on to Selva/Corvara in the Dolomites.
Left there and onto Zurich via the Stelvio pass and back into France. Treated ourselves to a lovely hotel in St Malo on the last night before returning to Cherbourg, Dublin and back to Belfast.
Just over 2500 miles in 15 days

We spent Christmas a couple of years ago at my in-laws place in the hills above Torrox, Andalucia, and can definitely say it was the most 'Christmassy' I've felt in years. No commercialisation to it, just lots of (mostly Spanish) happy families enjoying the season and spending time together. Definitely the way it should be!
